We all know that PC gaming can be expensive. Between the cost of a high-end gaming rig and the price of new release games, it can be tough to justify the expenditure. But what if I told you that there are plenty of great games out there that you can play for free?
In this blog post, I’ll be sharing my top five picks for the best free games on PC. From first-person shooters to puzzle games, there’s something for everyone on this list. So without further ado, let’s get started!
Fortnite
Fortnite is one of the most popular PC games and it is also free to play. The game has been developed by Epic Games and it was released in 2017. Fortnite is a battle royale game where players have to fight to be the last one standing. The game is very addictive and it is also very challenging. There are many different weapons and items that players can use to try to win the game. Fortnite is definitely a great game to play if you are looking for something challenges and exciting.
PUBG
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) is a online multiplayer battle royale game developed and published by PUBG Corporation, a subsidiary of South Korean video game company Bluehole. The game is based on previous mods that were created by Brendan “PlayerUnknown” Greene for other games using the 2000 film Battle Royale for inspiration, and expanded into a standalone game under Greene’s creative direction. In the game, up to one hundred players parachute onto an island and scavenge for weapons and equipment to kill others while avoiding getting killed themselves. The available safe area of the map decreases in size over time, directing surviving players into tighter areas to force encounters. The last player or team standing wins the round.
The development of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds was inspired by previous battle royale-style mods Greene had designed for other games, principally Arma 2 and H1Z1: King of the Kill. Greene had found success with these mods, but was dissatisfied with how little they changed from their original inspirations. He began working on a new mod, which he took inspiration from the 2000 Japanese film Battle Royale, which revolves around a similar concept of pitting players against each other in combat until only one is left standing. After two months of development, Greene released the mod as a free-to-play title on Steam Early Access on March 23, 2017.
Dota 2
Dota 2 has been a popular game in the PC gaming community for many years. It is a free-to-play action real-time strategy game where players take control of a single hero and battle against other players or computer-controlled opponents. The objective is to destroy the enemy’s ancient, which is located in the middle of their base.
Dota 2 is known for its deep strategic gameplay, complex mechanics, and large pool of available heroes. It is constantly being updated with new content, making it one of the most played games on Steam. If you’re looking for a challenging and rewarding game to play, Dota 2 is definitely worth checking out.
CS:GO
CS:GO is a multiplayer first-person shooter video game developed by Hidden Path Entertainment and Valve Corporation. It is the fourth game in the Counter-Strike series and was released for Microsoft Windows, OS X, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 in August 2012, while the Linux version was released in 2014. The game pits two teams against each other—the Terrorists and the Counter-Terrorists—in rounds of combat with the objective of eliminating the other team. Each round is won by either completing the mission objective or eliminating all members of the opposing team.
The game features an economy system where players can earn money through killing enemies, completing objectives, or rescuing hostages; spending this money on weapons and equipment such as armor and grenades. Players can also gamble on matches through online sportsbooks. The game has matchmaking support that allows players to be matched with others based on their skill level, langue, and location; however, servers are not regionally locked, allowing players from around the world to connect together.
League of Legends
League of Legends is one of the most popular PC games out there. It’s a free-to-play multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game that’s extremely fun and competitive.
There are three main game modes in League of Legends: Summoner’s Rift, Twisted Treeline, and Howling Abyss. In Summoner’s Rift, teams of five players battle it out in a large map. The objective is to destroy the enemy team’s nexus, which is located in their base.
Twisted Treeline is similar to Summoner’s Rift, but it’s played on a smaller map with only three players on each team. Howling Abyss is an entirely different game mode where two teams of five players fight in an endless battle until one team reaches 100 kills.
League of Legends is an incredibly fun and addicting game that’s perfect for PC gamers who are looking for a challenging and competitive experience.
